Join us in scenic and historic Duluth, Minnesota for the 2008
International Association of Natural Resource Pilots annual workshop. We're
planning a busy and enjoyable time in Duluth from September 15 through
September 17, 2008.
The workshop will be held at the beautiful waterfront Inn on Lake Superior
(see http://www.theinnonlakesuperior.com/). We've negotiated a super room
rate of $84 a night, but that rate is only good as long as rooms are
available in this room class, so make your reservations now!
We are planning an all star slate of speakers on a variety of subjects, such
as survival, a topic that is should always be in the back of our minds as we
ply the skies in our work environment. Our keynote speaker on aircrew
survival will be Mr. Doug Ritter, of Equipped to Survive (see
http://www.equipped.org ). Doug's web
site contains a wealth of information, but the man himself is a fantastic
source of basic and advanced information on survival equipment and
techniques. Bring your thoughts and questions, and enjoy this seminar.
Join a non pilot researcher who has more hours in natural resource aviation
as an observer than most of us have as pilots to discuss "The View From The
Back Seat", a program discussing how we can better accomplish our jobs, and
maybe meet the mission requirements.
We're also planning a round table discussion on a topic many of us deal with
on a daily basis: Radio Telemetry antennas and rigging on our aircraft.
Join us for an in depth discussion of these important and sometimes
confusing topics.
Fear not, while our primary focus in Duluth will be training and sharing of
information, we also have some great entertainment planned. For example,
one evening, we've arranged for an after hours private tour of the Richard
I. Bong WWII Heritage Center. As many of you know, Richard Bong was the
highest scoring United States ace during WWII, a feat accomplished in a P-38
Lightning, a restored example of which forms the centerpiece of the Bong
Heritage Center. See
http://www.bongheritagecenter.org/.
There are a number of great restaurants are within close proximity to the
Inn on Lake Superior, and we'll enjoy fine dining at several of those.
Harbor tours are available, the International Wolf Discovery Center is north
of Duluth in Ely, and many other attractions are available to attendees and
spouses.
We've decided to hold the registration fee at $50 per person, as in past
years, but you'll get a lot for your fee at this year's workshop.
See you there!! |
